Tesla Model Y Juniper Hardware and Autopilot Advancements
While full self-driving capabilities are not confirmed for the new model, Tesla has hinted at the possibility of offering Full Self-Driving (FSD) as an optional feature. This means that customers can choose to equip their Model Y with the necessary hardware to enable FSD and enjoy the benefits of autonomous driving when it becomes available through software updates in the future.
Excitement surrounds the possibility of the new Model Y offering Full Self Driving as an optional feature. Elon Musk, Tesla’s visionary CEO, shared his optimism during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. He expressed his belief that Tesla might achieve FSD as early as later in 2023, but he also humbly acknowledged that it’s speculative.
There are no huge changes in hardware and Autopilot considering the Model Y made its debut only three years ago in 2020. So the refresh is mainly targeting refining what already is there and pique the interest of potential buyers even further.

Tesla Model Y 2022
Tesla Hatchback: Price and availability
Elon Musk confirmed that the car will cost $25,000. It’s unclear whether that is the full purchase price, or if that includes the “potential savings” discount Tesla advertises. While some could claim this is misleading, that figure supposedly takes federal incentives and gas savings into consideration — even if you have to hand over more money.
In other words, the car could realistically cost more. Especially since Tesla has been raising price very regularly over the past year due to various supply chain issues. Elon Musk says these prices will not be going down unless inflation becomes more manageable, and rising costs means the $25K price tag could be in jeopardy.
As for release, Tesla originally announced it was ready to release the hatchback at some point in 2023. However that was assuming the car didn’t fall foul of delays, something Tesla is all to familiar with.
Both the Cybertruck and Roadster have suffered major delays, and Tesla has begun prioritizing production on them over other new vehicles. CEO Elon Musk even confirmed that the automaker is «not currently working on a $25K» car.
Apparently the automaker has been more focussed on ramping up production of existing cars, like the production-challenged Model X, and the eventual launch of the Cybertruck. Model X wait times have dropped significantly in the months since, and that hopefully frees up resources for other things.
Musk later confirmed that 2023 would be the year the Cybertruck, Roadster and Tesla Semi truck will launch. Or at least, that’s the plan if more supply chain delays don’t get in the way. There’s been no official word on the $25k hatchback, and it’s pretty likely that it’s fallen victim to the Tesla curse. In fact analysts have predicted the car won’t be unveiled until sometime in 2024 — ready for production to begin in 2025.
Tesla Model Y Juniper Battery Pack and Technology
The performance of the Model Y Juniper is expected to be nothing short of exhilarating. Tesla is rumored to introduce a new powertrain that will deliver impressive acceleration and range.
One of the most noteworthy changes is the implementation of a new battery architecture, which promises to deliver an impressive driving range of 400 miles on a single charge. This substantial improvement in range could address one of the primary concerns for electric vehicle users—range anxiety.
Also, there are discussions regarding a potential charging input of 350 kW, made feasible by adopting a higher voltage of 800 volts.
The current Model Y lineup offers three dual-motor AWD variants: standard, Long Range, and Performance. The standard variant, with its new structural battery pack, offers a lower EPA-estimated range but remains efficient and more affordable.
The Long Range variant, on the other hand, provides an impressive range of up to 330 miles, while the Performance variant offers thrilling acceleration and higher energy consumption.
Tesla Model 2 2023 for USD 25000
Note: Since there is no official name for the car, let’s assume it to be the Tesla Model 2, and I’ll mention the car as Model 2 throughout the article.
Only a few specifics concerning Model 2 have been made public thus far. Although none of those facts have truly been confirmed by Tesla. Elon Musk has established several objectives for the next electric car model that Tesla may concentrate on while creating the Model 2.
First of all, when it does begin to be sold, Tesla Model 2’s planned price of $25,000 would make it Tesla’s cheapest model yet. Second, the Model 2 will have a popular design in Europe and Asia and be either a small automobile or a subcompact vehicle.
According to claims in the Chinese media, Model 2 work has already begun. 2022 predictions suggested a possible 2023 delivery date for the Model 2. The $25,000 compact car from Tesla hasn’t received an official name just yet.
The next electric car has been referred to as the Model 2 and Model Q, although Tesla has not officially endorsed either name. Elon Musk was questioned about calling the future entry-level EV the “Model I” during his virtual presentation at the 2022 B20 Summit in Indonesia. The name was not verified nor refuted by Musk. Instead, he said it made sense to drive a more fuel-efficient vehicle.

Tesla Hatchback: Performance and range speculation
We know very little about the Tesla hatchback’s performance at this point, since Tesla hasn’t revealed anything about the motor. However, given the car’s price tag and presumed size, it’s likely that it only has a single electric motor, though whether it’ll be front or rear wheel drive is unclear.
Tesla has yet to produce a front wheel drive car, so it seems rear wheel drive is the more likely candidate.
As for the range, we have just as few confirmed details. That being said, Elon Musk previously said that the Standard Range Tesla Model Y was discontinued in early 2021 because it only had 244 miles of range. Evidently, Musk believes that anything less than 250 is .
So unless there has been a major philosophical change at Tesla in the past year, we can likely expect a minimum of 250 miles from the Tesla hatchback.
2023 Tesla Model 2 Interior
The interior will most likely retain Tesla’s signature minimalism, with a large infotainment touchscreen in portrait orientation and not much else. It’s also expected to offer plenty of room for passengers and their luggage, taking advantage of the custom EV architecture and a practical two-box silhouette with a short hood.
Tesla’s designers could have added the wacky steering wheel yoke and shifting process that debuted in the Model S/Model X facelift earlier this year, but since it’s an entry-level model with a wider target group, they might opt for something less controversial.
2023 Tesla Model 2 Battery
At Battery Day, Tesla said that standard vehicles and future models will use lithium iron phosphate batteries. LFP batteries are cheaper to manufacture and have several advantages and disadvantages when compared to nickel batteries. Tesla will likely use a 4680 LFP battery for the Model 2. This will make the vehicle smaller and lighter, but may also offer less range.
The 4680 Tesla cell is named after its dimensions, 46mm x 80mm. They are much cheaper to manufacture, produce 5x more energy, have 16% more range, and 6x more power, making them much more economical than traditional batteries. Using 4680 batteries, the Model 2 is expected to have a travel range of 250 to 300 miles.
Tesla will use a structural 4680 cell package in a single body cast to manufacture the Model 2 as efficiently as possible. This along with advanced robotics will help Tesla achieve economies of scale and mass-produce its most affordable cars.
In May 2022, during the Financial Times ‘Future of the Car’ interview (video), Elon stated that there was some possibility Tesla would make a car smaller than the Model 3, leaving the possibilities open for both the smaller Model 3 and the smaller Model 3. small. a Tesla Robot action.
Don’t expect a “Model 2” any time soon, Elon has talked about Tesla finishing the CyberTruck this year and starting production in 2023. Tesla also has a Roadster and Semi to go into production, which will most likely predate the Model 2.
At that time, we may see a drastic increase in FSD that could guarantee a fully autonomous robotaxi. I don’t expect the Model 2 before 2024, but we could see a prototype before then.
Fast Charging (10 -> 80%)
Rapid charging enables longer journeys by adding as much range as possible in the shortest amount of time. Charging power will decrease significantly after 80% state-of-charge has been reached. A typical rapid charge therefore rarely exceeds 80% SoC. The rapid charge rate of an EV depends on the charger used and the maximum charging power the EV can handle. The table below shows all details for rapid charging the Tesla Model S Dual Motor.
Tesla has not released details about rapid charging the Model S. The information below is based on estimated values of the most likely rapid charging capabilities.

The Model 2 Could Be Manufactured In China
There is a lot of doubt and speculation about the manufacturing of the Tesla Model 2. During Tesla’s Q3 2022 earnings conference call, Elon Musk made some rather grandiose claims regarding the production numbers of the Model 2: “It will, I think, swiftly become, like shortly, exceed the production of all our other vehicles combined.” According to a report released by 36 Krypton on April 4, 2023, Tesla is planning a yearly production rate of 4 million units for the entry-level EV. The number is nothing short of staggering, and a huge leap from the current norm. In 2022, Tesla sold 1.31 million EVs worldwide across its entire panoply, which represented a 40-percent increase YoY. We would therefore recommend mixing these rumors with a healthy dose of skepticism.
However, it would only make sense for Tesla to unleash the Model 2 on a large scale, as it has enough potential, on paper at least, to match the commercial success of the Model Y. To accommodate such plans, the Model 2 should be manufactured in different Gigafactories around the globe, in order to supply different markets.
Tesla
The Giga Mexico Factory located in Santa Catarina (Nuevo León), Mexico should service the North American market. Similarly, European consumers would likely get their $25,000 EV from the Berlin-Brandenburg Gigafactory. The Austin-based EV maker now wants to turn its German factory into the largest car plant in Europe, with a production rate of 1 million EVs per year and 100-gigawatt hours of batteries. We’ve also heard rumors about a potential Gigafactory in Valencia, Spain, which now seems out of the equation. Tesla has reportedly terminated all negotiations with the regional government of Valencia over a matter of leaked information.
As for the Asian market, the EV company would likely resort to its Shanghai-based Gigafactory, which produces over half of its global deliveries. Although we don’t have a release date for the Model 2, we assume it will likely be made available to consumers in 2025, before the budget-friendly market gets populated. Production should reasonably start in 2024, likely around the first quarter.
