2023 Lexus GX 460 – Lexus, a high-end brand of Toyota, will launch the 2023 Lexus GX 460 model. The model received the final facelift in 2014. Now a new front view similar to BMW has been introduced. He looks more prominent now. His courage increased from the appearance and interior design.

There are two kinds of rumors about the direction of development that we hear. The first is a hybrid engine. This is not an easy road, as the system will increase fuel economy, but it will damage performance. Another solution is the twin-turbocharged V6. Rumors about this are getting bigger, and even the Lexus LX can get a similar configuration.

Table of Contents

This can be a great thing to help clear the distance during long trips. The ride is steady but comfortable, and there’s room for six or seven people, depending on whether the optional second-row captain’s seat is reserved. The 2023 Lexus GX is even better at cruising where the paved road ends — this Lexus SUV has some serious all-terrain power.

But it also gives the 2023 Lexus GX an acquired taste, especially when facing rivals who present much more car-like driving characteristics.

Remember the quick mention of the Toyota Tundra and its recent reboot? This bodes well for a complete makeover for GX, which has used much of the previous Tundra architecture.

It also means the GX’s long-serving 301-horsepower V8 will get a heave-ho in favor of the more efficient turbo-turbocharged V6 that served in the new Tundra.

While we love the old-fashioned charm of the rugged V8 engine, the engine used in the 2023 Lexus GX has the kind of mileage you could associate with an Italian supercar or a mid-sized bus.

Last year’s update to the 2023 Lexus GX infotainment system added a larger and more intuitive 10.3-inch touchscreen, along with popular features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus standard navigation.

While the changes are welcome, there’s no doubt the 2023 Lexus GX will be undergoing a significant overhaul soon.

One Of The Last Naturally-Aspirated V8s Standing

The 2023 Lexus GX 460 comes with a 4.6-liter V8 engine. This engine works together with a six-speed automatic transmission, with full-time four-wheel drive. The GX also features a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension system, which improves the ride quality and adapts to enhance handling. This system does wonders both on the road and off the road. This system senses uneven surfaces, and when one cylinder is compressed in the suspension system, the fluids flow to the other cylinder to ensure all four wheels are staying on the ground. Also available is the Adaptive Variable Suspension, which is controlled electronically to adjust the dampening based on the road conditions. The V8 engine delivers 301 horsepower and 329 lb-ft of torque, with a towing capability of 6,500-pound. Various driving behaviors are available through the different modes, like Normal, Sport, and Comfort. On paper, the GX 460 seems OK, but how does it do on and off the road? And is this enough to justify the high fuel economy from the large displacement V8 engine?

2023 Lexus GX Platforms & Specifications

The 2023 Lexus GX will retain a much-loved feature when moving to the third generation: stair frame construction. Nonetheless, the main body-on-frame luxury SUV in the group will take on a new platform scheme from the TNGA family – the GA-F.

About the new Land Cruiser, Toyota says that the GA-F stage allows it to lower the vehicle’s focal point of gravity and further develop improved axle weight distribution.

Building the LC 300 on the TNGA architectural design has further developed comfort, maintenance, safety, and noise insulation protection as well.

The body and frame are 20% stiffer than the LC 200 and weigh about 200 kg lighter. Expect the Lexus GX to also benefit in this aspect when switching to the GA-F.

Reports suggest that the next-generation Prado will come in full-hybrid and mild-hybrid variants, with the former sporting a 2.5-liter petrol engine and the latter using a 2.8-liter diesel engine. Lexus could borrow at least an electrified petrol engine for the next-generation 2023 Lexus GX.

What’s New 2023 Lexus GX 460

The 2023 Lexus GX 460 will feature a subtle update with a new exterior style. It will continue to offer three decorations-Base, Premium, and Luxury at the same price as the previous generation. This will bring the suggested retail price for essential decorations to $53,450 and the maximum price of luxury decorations to $64,715. Expect this to end next year, as there are rumors that the Lexus GX 2023 will be a new generation hybrid model.

We hope the redesign will update the interior and exterior. The GX 460 will still be a seven-seater model, with plenty of other options. We don’t know if autonomous driving will be coming soon, but all Lexus cars will quickly provide a Level 4 independent driving system.

Is the 2023 Lexus GX 460 a Good Car?

The Lexus GX 460 is an SUV that delivers good performance and good handling on the road. It offers ample power to accelerate quickly with its 400 horsepower engine. The transmission, fuel economy, and handling are three more of the car’s strongest features. 2023 Lexus GX 460 is a good car with plenty of power, good handling, and great fuel economy. The seats are comfortable, and the car is easy to drive.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0

For 2024, the all-new Lexus GX includes standard Lexus Safety System+ 3.0.

The comprehensive suite of active safety equipment provides our highest level of driver support with features such as Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Road Sign Assist (RSA) and Proactive Driving Assist (PDA). These technologies are designed to help, for example, alert you of a pedestrian or vehicle in the path of your Lexus or maintain a preset speed or following distance from a vehicle ahead.

The 2024 GX will be assembled at the Tahara plant in Japan and is expected to go on sale in early 2024.

A Great Family SUV With Room For Improvement

There is no doubt the 2023 Lexus GX 460 is fun to drive. After all, you will feel high up in traffic, you will see far ahead, and the overall experience is both aggressive and luxurious. Acceleration is great from a stop, and you will feel a ton of torque immediately. However, while you’re moving, the V8 just doesn’t feel like it has enough to haul the massive SUV. If you need to get on the throttle more often and harder to get a drive that will satisfy you, expect extremely poor fuel economy. Let’s face it, however, the GX is not made for quick acceleration. This SUV is made for trips, some off-roading, and towing. This Lexus does all of these very well. The drive is very comfortable. I am talking long, long trips with no complaints. If you’re very gentle with your throttle input and drive more highway, you can get 20 mpg. However, if you aren’t paying attention, you can often find yourself in the 14 mpg range. This is not the SUV for you if fuel efficiency is anywhere near your radar. The GX can accommodate a family comfortably, but it’s not the only SUV that can do this. Four people other than myself have taken a long trip, and the space was more than enough. For such a large SUV, the handling was surprisingly good. In fact, there were no incidents when we felt we need to slow down during some of the turns. All in all, the GX 460 is a great SUV for towing and some off-road capabilities. It’s not the right SUV for fuel conscious customers, neither is it the right vehicle for the ones seeking the latest and greatest — it’s a decent luxury SUV.

What’s New 2023 Lexus GX?

When you’re ready to upgrade, take a look at this year’s Toyota Lexus GX 2023. Its design is subtle but aggressive, with an eye-catching back bumper and stylish 18-inch alloys, while its luxurious interior is filled with enough technology to make things convenient. The Lexus GX offers three powertrains, with the one in the GX 2023 being a hybrid. In the year 2023, things have been changing fast.

Is the 2023 Lexus GX a Good Car?

For the past few decades, Lexus has been known as the luxury car manufacturer to go to for top-of-the-line purchases. With the upcoming release of the GX, it is time to see if they are still living up to this standard. According to automotive reviews, the GX is a surprisingly comfortable car with plenty of room for passengers. Although the engine is nothing special, the build quality and electronics packages are excellent.

2023 Lexus GX Exterior Design

The Lexus GX is designed to be a luxury car with capabilities on both regular and off-road roads. When looking at the latest model Lexus GX 2023, the most change is the grille’s shape. In size, the grille of the Lexus GX is arguably enormous, and the details on this grille use a 3D grille shape that is not used in other Lexus lineups.

2023 Lexus GX Exterior

The 2023 Lexus GX looks to have a redesign similar to the Lexus LQ concept. The current Lexus GX technology looks like a big one compared to other mid-size Sports utility vehicles but actually has many items to supply. Toyota has started redesigning your choice. The 2023 Lexus GX continues to use the old grill design. The decade-old design didn’t stop this SUV from becoming unmatched in its class when it came to combining off-road performance, luxury, reliability, and overall quality.

The Lexus GX 2023 will get an exclusive lower grille surround, side mirror casings, rear diffuser, matte black exhaust tip, and scarlet tail lights, as well as gunmetal-colored 19-inch rims.

2023 Lexus GX Interior Redesign

The latest generation Lexus GX comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery and a power-adjustable 10-way front seat. There is currently a block of wood and leather heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, semi-aniline leather trim, and third-row seats that can be powered and foldable.

2023 Lexus GX Engine

The 2023 Lexus GX will still be armed with a 4,600cc V8 engine powered by 301 hp and a 446 Nm engine combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. For safety standards, Lexus GX 2023 is equipped with Lexus Safety System containing Intelligent High Beams, Lane Departure Alert, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

2023 Lexus GX Features

The New Lexus GX has as many security and infotainment features as the Lexus GX, but the latest Lexus GX models add Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. None of these smartphone integration systems are available on GX. The Lexus RX comes standard with seating for five people, but the RX L model increases seating occupancy to seven, which corresponds to the standard Lexus GX. Unless you’re looking for off-road capabilities, you might prefer the Lexus RX over the Lexus GX.

2023 Lexus GX Release Date

The release date of the Lexus GX is still unknown for now. We expect Lexus to relaunch its new SUV named Lexus GX 2023 by the end of 2022 for the 2023 model. Although at this time the company has not confirmed about it. We expect Lexus GX will enter the Asian market because, at the moment, Lexus only markets Lexus LX Series, Lexus RX Series, and Lexus NX Series for the SUV segment. In contrast, Lexus GX Series is marketed in North America and Eurasia. There’s a lot of new information to be taken, but Toyota and Lexus clearly have a very aggressive new product attack on the way. We can’t wait.

2023 Lexus GX Release Date

Announcing Toyota’s (parent company) EV strategy on December 14, 2021, President Akio Toyoda said that Lexus aims to launch a full line of EVs across all vehicle segments by 2030.

The luxury brand is targeting EVs to reach 100% of its sales in North America, China, and Europe. and targets EV sales of 1 million units globally that year. By 2035, the company wants to convert 100% of its sales globally to EVs.

The Lexus NX 450h+ PHEV, the brand’s first dedicated BEV model, will be released in June 2021. In mid-2022, the Lexus RZ, the production version of the Lexus LF-Z Electrified concept, will go on sale.

In March 2024, Lexus will open a new business and technology center where teams involved in brand development, design, production technology, and planning can work together to accelerate the planning and development of the next generation of Lexus models.

The next-generation 2023 Lexus GX could arrive in the US during the first half of 2024 and the next-generation Lexus GX will compete with the BMW X5 and Land Rover Discovery.

Legendary Offroad Performance

The GX has been known for its offroad prowess since the beginning, and the 2024 GX is no different. Standard Full-Time 4WD is adopted for consistent responsiveness in varied terrain with a Torsen limited-slip center differential with locking feature. Overtrail grades add an electronic locking rear differential. When accelerating during a turn, the Torsen differential optimally distributes the driving force according to the load on the rear left and right wheels to achieve a high level of controlled performance. In straight-line driving, it responds well to changes in road conditions, contributing to overall vehicle stability. Switching between 4hi and 4lo is now faster versus the previous generation due to enhancements on the electronic transfer case.

Evolved Engine: 3.4-L Twin Turbo V6 and Direct Shift-10AT

The all-new GX will be offered in two powertrain options to meet the needs of customers. At launch in the U.S., GX will come standard with a highly capable and efficient twin-turbocharged 3.4L V6 engine paired with a 10-speed Direct Shift Automatic Transmission. The twin-turbo V6 produces an improved 349 horsepower, outperforming the previous generation V8’s 301 horsepower, and torque output also improves to a massive 479 lb.-ft. The twin turbochargers deliver steady and consistent acceleration to easily control power delivery in both on and off-road scenarios. Towing capacity has increased to 8,000 lbs. for Premium, Premium+ and Overtrail grades with the standard tow hitch.

A hybrid powertrain will be available in the U.S. at a later date.

GA-F Platform and Suspension

The 2024 GX shares the GA-F platform introduced on the current-generation LX 600. This strong and lightweight ladder frame increases body rigidity and improved on-road handling, key elements of Lexus Driving Signature. A newly developed double-wishbone front suspension is paired with a multi-link rear suspension to achieve both a high level of off-road driving performance and on-road prowess. An available Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) constantly adjusts damping forces based on changing road conditions. GX adopts Electronic Power Steering (EPS) enabling increased steering feel on and off-road.

2023 Lexus GX Price

We expect the base price of the Lexus GX 460 2023 to start at around $56,000. While it’s a lot of money for any vehicle, it’s relatively cheap when you compare the 2023 Lexus GX to 3-row SUVs like Land Rover, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.

Since there’s only one powertrain option and a 4-wheel-drive (4WD) comes standard, the biggest deciding factor when exploring the GX options, in the end, is how luxurious you want this massive SUV to be.

The Black Line Special Edition, the appearance-oriented trim introduced for the 2022 model year, costs around $60,000.

Go for the top-of-the-line Premium trim and expect to pay around $65,000. This version adds features such as leather seats, adaptive suspension with self-leveling rear air suspension, a heated steering wheel, and a foldable third row.

The next-generation Lexus GX can start at around USD 55,000.

2023 Lexus GX 550

The Lexus GX is a survivor. The current second-generation model has been around since 2009 and recently received important upgrades for the 2022 model. The new 10.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration, as well as six USB ports, will add some modern technology to the mix. old-fashioned cabin.

The naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8 engine, connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission, remains untouched with 301 horsepower and 329 lb-ft of torque. But it seems Lexus has an upgrade in mind.

MotorTrend found that Toyota filed trademark application materials for the GX550 moniker in Costa Rica, stating that the upgrade will likely apply to the US model. So we did some digging and found a similar trademark application for the name “GX550” that Toyota filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on September 7, 2021.

While this confirms the 550 trim is US-bound, the document doesn’t say when the GX550 will debut.

We’re pretty sure it won’t be until the redesigned Tundra arrives. The disclosure came later this month. After the Tundra and its new twin-turbo V6 have enjoyed some time in the spotlight, we can easily see Lexus reveal the updated GX for the 2023 model year.

The current 2023 Lexus GX is officially called the GX460 about its V8. What is the importance of type 550 here? The answer is likely the new 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine found in the newly released Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series engine.

Unfortunately, the SUV is not slated for sale in the US, but the engine is expected to be found in the soon-to-be-launched full-size Tundra truck. Expect around 450 hp and 500 lb-ft of rev.

The GX550 is very unlikely to have 550 hp, as the name suggests. The reason for this name maybe because it represents the development of SUV engines. Using the GX450 makes no sense.

Will the arrival of the V6 mean that the V8 is dead? Possible. The former has more power and better fuel efficiency. It’s a simple business case. A 450-hp or so Lexus GX isn’t far off and SUV fans should celebrate.

2023 Lexus GX : Interior

The Lexus 2023 GX sports car is a well-designed cabinet full of impressive elements, but the perfect design is outdated. That chalk comes more than a decade from the full redesign. The GX is experiencing major infotainment improvements this year, with a modern 10.3-inch touch screen and smartphone integration for the first time. The touch screen is easy to use, and many strong buttons and knots are recommended, which helps to make it faster for multiple controls and adjustments. However, you are better off using the touch screen than the Remote Touchpad, the Lexus has allowed you to be a soldier in its vehicles. Located to the right of the shift knob, the Remote Touchpad is like a portable computer trackpad, and it can interfere with your ability to use it while driving. Typical infotainment includes 10.3-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, nine-speaker stereo, voice recognition, Bluetooth, satellite radio, HD Radio, hotspot Wi-Fi, four USB ports, and navigation.

2023 Lexus GX 460 Interior

2023 Lexus GX 550

However, you can leave the back of the pillars closed and open the rear window sill separately, making it easier to drop small items. Also, it would be wise to lift some heavy objects off the back of an SUV over the upper and lower lip. GX seats seven people; The second-line captain’s seats are optional, lowering to six. There are two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the second row of outdoor seating and an extinguishing anchor for the middle row of the second row. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has provided this LATCH program with the second-highest rating of Acceptable for easy use. All binding anchors are unique and easy to use, but the lower anchors are firmly set in the seats.

2023 Lexus GX : Engine

The Lexus GX 460 is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 301 horsepower and 329 pounds of torque. It’s usually in the job of making the heavy GX go faster, as you can get away from it with a little drama. However, it can be difficult to climb at high speeds, especially with full crowds of people or goods. The Lexus GX gets an EPA of 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway, which is bad for a mid-size SUV class.

2023 Lexus GX : Safety

Lexus makes its Lexus Safety System Plus a standard of advanced safety technology for all Lexus 2022, meaning the GX 460 includes features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic highs beams, as well as a collision warning and automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection. The front and rear parking sensors are also commonplace in the 2023 Lexus GX 460 models.

2023 Lexus GX Interior

Inside, expect a slimmer dashboard, simpler and sleeker planned buttons manufactured using better materials, and the Lexus Interface infotainment frame with a 12.3-inch drifting touchscreen will bring the appeal inside. Expect a more contemporary center control area, floor control center, and control wheel plan. Compared to its lighter monocoque, the Lexus 2023 Lexus GX may still look heavy, but that’s what loyal customers love.

The new state-of-the-art GX infotainment framework should accompany a client profile that allows storing selected settings in the cloud and applying them to other Lexus models equipped with the Lexus Interface.

Plus, expect cloud-based routes, remote Apple CarPlay, and remote Android Auto.

In addition to the large touchscreen infotainment system, the next-generation 2023 Lexus GX technology features will include an advanced air filter, a heads-up display, wireless charging, and a panoramic camera.

In certain markets like Russia, a fingerprint reader on the switch is starting to likely be on this list.

2023 Lexus GX 460 Engines

Things under the hood definitely won’t change. We are about to see a good-old 4.6-liter V8, which puts out around 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to provide pretty decent performance. The acceleration is okay, while the 6-speed automatic transmission does a decent job too. Furthermore, keep in mind that four-wheel drive is standard, as we already mentioned.

The engine is super reliable and durable. However, the price for that comes in the form of poor fuel economy. This old V8 returns no more than 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway, and those are some of the lowest numbers in the class.

First-Ever Lexus OVERTRAIL Grade

As expressed at the Tokyo Outdoor Show earlier this year, Lexus has introduced the first-ever “Overtrail Project,” an initiative that intends to inspire customers around the world to explore nature through refined adventures. The goal is to include more opportunities for Lexus customers in the future, including potential products, accessories, gear and experiences. The all-new Overtrail grade falls under the umbrella of this initiative.

Adding to an already tough and rugged exterior, the Overtrail and Overtrail+ models add a host of features and specialized styling. An eye-catching bi-tone exterior paint combination is available in Atomic Silver/Black Roof, Incognito/Black Roof, Nori Green Pearl/Black Roof, and Lexus-first Earth/Black Roof. The intention behind the color design was to create a cohesive relationship with the outdoors via calming earth tones that blend in with nature. Overtrail grades also feature standard 33-inch All-Terrain tires wrapped around 18-inch wheels, black accented overfenders and a standard aluminum skid plate.

On the inside, the natural earth tones continue with Lexus-first Chateau with Olive Ultrasuede accents and a classic Black with Olive Ultrasuede accents for a luxurious touch. Overtrail+ grade will come standard with an exclusive seat design for optimal off-road comfort with available driver and front passenger massage seats and driver power cushion extender.

Multi-Terrain Select (MTS), Crawl Control, Downhill Assist Control (DAC), and 3D Multi-Terrain Monitor systems are standard on GX Overtrail grades for optimal traction on the trails, along with an Electronic-Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS) for improved wheel articulation. An electronic locking rear differential is exclusive on OVERTRAIL for maximum traction.
