Honda sells a ton of Accords. People may say sedans are dying, but the segment is going strong at Honda. Even with all the difficulties the car market had last year, Honda still managed to move nearly 156,000 Accords in 2022. So when a new generation Accord debuts, it’s pretty huge for the company. And when they do a new Accord, they do it right.
Honda will offer buyers six flavors of Accord: Base LX, EX, Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and top-of-the-line Touring. No matter the trim you chose, you’ll be treated to some excellent engineering underneath the skin.

It all starts with a new chassis, built on what Honda calls its enhanced global architecture. This new platform results in a body that’s strong and rigid, for improved ride and handling. Honda improved the steering feel, with a claimed 33-percent decrease in steering friction compared to the previous generation. Ride comfort has improved as well with a slightly wider rear track and improved compliance bushings to better absorb road imperfections. It all works to make the 2023 Accord smooth and comfortable, but not floaty. You wouldn’t think twice about taking this Accord through the canyons.

To hustle you along, Honda has given the Accord two all-new engines. Accord LX and EX get a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four making 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. Enthusiasts may be disappointed to find out that the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine — closely related to the FK8 Civic Type R’s powerplant — has been dropped from the Accord lineup for the 2023 model year.

In its place is a hybrid drivetrain. An improved version of the system used in the last gen Accord Hybrid, Sport and higher trims get a 2.0-liter Atkinson four-cylinder paired with a dual electric motor setup to produce 204 total system hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. Honda fitted things like more powerful traction motor and power generators to the Hybrid system to improve performance. Honda seems to understand that people will feel some type of way over the loss of the previous 2.0-liter engine, as the company made pains to point out that this new hybrid engine has increased power and torque — compared to the previous Accord Hybrid, that is. The 252-hp, 273-lb-ft output of the last-gen Accord 2.0T will not be matched in the 11th-gen car.

No matter, though, as both engines available for 2023 will make it up to you in fuel efficiency. EPA ratings for the 1.5-liter sit at 29 mpg city, 37 highway, 32 combined. The Accord Hybrid offers two EPA ratings depending on trim. Commuters will want to go for the 2023 Accord EX-L, rated at at 51 mpg city, 44 highway, 48 combined. Sport, Sport-L, and Touring hybrids get ratings of 46 mpg city, 41 highway, 44 combined. No matter which engine you choose, the only available transmission is a CVT.
Of course, these aren’t high-performance engines, but they’re smooth and efficient — and capable enough to win a couple of stoplight sprints, as I was able to confirm. The Accord gets a couple of different drive modes including Eco and and Sport, the latter of which works surprisingly well, increasing throttle and steering response. It made the Accord pretty fun to hustle through local mountain canyons.

A More Potent And Efficient Hybrid Powertrain

The LX and EX trim levels have a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that generates 192 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 192 pound-feet of torque between 1,700 and 5,000 RPM. The engine transmits power to the front wheels using a constantly variable automatic gearbox. For the time being, this will be the only gas engine option for the 2023 Accord.
Buyers who want a more powerful engine should opt for the Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Touring trim levels, which get a new hybrid powertrain. Comprising a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gas-propelled engine and two electric motors, the total system output is 204 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque between 5,000 and 8,000 RPM. Although there is nine fewer horsepower than previously, it makes 15 lb-ft more torque. Honda also claims that the new technology is more refined and responsive at high speeds, which gets us more excited. Using the 2022 models as reference, the fuel economy numbers on the hybridized Accords should be around 44 MPG city and 41 MPG highway for the Sport and Touring models, as well as 48 MPG city and 47 MPG highway on the EX-L.
Sharper and Stronger
Standing about 9 cm longer and 4.5 cm wider than its predecessor, but with an identical wheelbase and height, the 2023 Accord looks sharper and more robust. The new hexagonal grille with triangular mesh design and the restyled LED headlights up front are arguably more attractive.

On the sides, where 17- and 19-inch wheels are available, the profile is similar and retains a character line that runs all the way to the rear. The new taillights are reminiscent of German sedans, while the exhaust tips are smartly hidden for a cleaner look.
The Sport model stands out with various black accents, and three of the six body colours are new including Meteorite Gray Metallic, Urban Gray Pearl and Canyon River Blue Metallic.
You should also know the new Accord is based on Honda’s enhanced global architecture and offers increased chassis rigidity with stiffer body supports and new front brace bars, which bodes well for dynamic handling. The suspension and steering have been revised, as well.
2023 Honda Accord Concept Preview
Honda updated the Accord in 2021, replacing the EX with the Sport Special Edition. The previously available manual transmission has been discontinued.
Other changes related to the tech update include a new 8-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, Apple CarPlay wireless connectivity, and Android Auto. We believe it will remain largely unchanged for the Honda Accord Concept 2023.
The Honda Accord is a mid-size sedan that can accommodate 5 people. It’s based on a design released in 2018 when the coupe was rejected and the sedan got a bit bigger and slimmer with a spacious boot.
The interior is as spacious as other models in the same segment. In fact, the Accord is classified as a “big car” by the EPA despite competing in the mid-range segment. With nearly 40 inches of rear legroom, the Accord is very comfortable to use.
The salon is neat and clean as in the Accord. while leather seats are offered for EXL and Touring.
In terms of technology, Honda offers the Accord with an 8-inch touch screen, a four-speaker audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, and smartphone integration.
Wi-Fi hotspots, 8- and 10-speaker sound systems, HD Radio and satellite radio, and a wireless charging dock are among the upgrades.

The New Honda Accord Gets An Updated Look

The 2023 generation of the Accord demonstrates the automaker’s newfound stylistic talent on so many levels, starting with a new front end that replaces the current model’s grille, with a more conventional and squared-off grille, aligning with the headlights. Instead of having a rounder appearance like the model year before, the sedan’s front end sports a blunter shape. We think the front end gets a faint Audi appeal to it.
And for the first time, a single horizontal air inlet now protrudes from the bottom of the front fascia. The new Accord retains its sloping roofline, which doesn’t affect rear headroom. Although it receives a new conventional squared-off taillight design, the rear end is not as rounded off as it once was. Despite being 2.7 inches longer than the previous model, the wheelbase remains unchanged in the new Accord.
The brand took an effort in adding some desirable features to the lower-end LX, EX, and EX-L models. These trim levels now feature 17-inch alloy wheels, a black grille mesh, and body-color side mirrors as standard. The sporty variants, Sport and Sport-L, come with Black side mirrors, a black rear spoiler, black 19-inch alloy wheels, and black rear diffusers. The unique gloss-black 19-inch alloy wheels, silver, and black exterior trim, and a high-contrast appearance are all included in the top-tier Touring trim package.

Салон достаточно просторный, пассажиры и водитель размещаются с комфортом. Приборная панель с 7-дюймовым дисплеем поддерживает Android Auto и Apple CarPlay. Передние сиденья с подогревом, климатический контроль распространяется на 2 зоны.

When you first look inside the 2023 Accord, you’ll see Honda’s recognizable design, but with a newer perspective and a straightforward dashboard layout.
