Electric sports car to be built from 2028
The concept car of Gran Turismo Lanzador follows in the footsteps of Lamborghini’s ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’ strategy. Its roadmap leads the design team to trail decarbonization and electrification, a mission the car brand first announced in 2021. Following the presentation of the V12 plug-in hybrid Revuelto, Lamborghini’s all-electric concept car Lanzador offers its fans an insight into the series model to be built starting 2028.
Lanzador blends the technical elements of a sports car and the look of a vehicle that is drivable daily. As Lamborghini states, the concept car invokes a pure design combining ultra high-performance elements of the Revuelto super sports car and the animated versatility of an Urus. It would have an all-wheel drive that can handle corners well as it can adjust the power to its rear wheels as needed. It is also powered by a high-performance battery that gives it both power and a long driving range.
The design of the GT concept car Lanzador is inspired by spaceships. Mitja Borkert, Head of Design Lamborghini, describes the start point of the design process from the volumes of a super sports car, but taking it onwards to create a true pilot’s driving position, inspired also by the Huracán Sterrato. The car’s exterior design draws inspiration from iconic Lamborghini models like the Sesto Elemento, Murciélago, and Countach LPI 800-4. It features sleek lines that emphasize aerodynamics, and the car sits low to the ground with a roof height of about 1.5 meters.

Lamborghini Lanzador Interiors
The “Ultra GT” car, as Lambo calls it, features a futuristic-looking cabin. The driver’s cockpit includes a flat-bottom steering wheel riddled with all the buttons to control the car’s dynamics. The driver and the co-passenger are separated by a Y-shaped dashboard design that houses two large screens for both.

Keeping in tune with times, Lamborghini has used sustainable materials for the interiors of the Lanzador. High-end Merino wool adorns the dashboard, seats, and door panels. Coloured threads are crafted from regenerated nylon/recycled plastic. Non-visible plastics, like foam in sports seats, are created from 3D-printed recycled fibres. Even the carbon fibre used is regenerated carbon – a two-layer composite material.
Transform and roll out
I was most interested in the Lanzador’s wild aerodynamics. Mohr explains that the mission of the Lanzador as a grand tourer that drivers will live with every day means you can’t just whack a big wing on the back like the Huracan STO, so his engineers went about hiding one of the most advanced active aerodynamics systems I’ve ever seen inside and underneath the EV’s silhouette.
Motorized aerodynamic elements in the bumpers, front splitter and rear diffuser deploy in an instant to increase downforce as necessary. Louvers hidden under the hood draw high-pressure air from the wheel arches to reduce drag. Carbon-fiber strakes rise from either side of the rear skylight to guide air over or through the spoiler integrated into the rear decklid. Even the headlamps feature air guides that flow air over and through even more aerodynamic elements hidden on or under the hood.
Watching the Lanzador change from low-drag cruiser to high-downforce performer — aero bits deploying and the suspension hunkering down — is a bit like watching a Transformer do its thing, but Mohr was most proud of the next generation of Lamborghini’s Integrated Control software.

The rear of the Lanzador features hexagonal-shaped taillights inspired by the plug-in hybrid Revuelto, and a large diffuser compensates for the missing large radical-looking exhaust that we usually find on a Lamborghini.

More than a megawatt
Behind the Lanzador’s genre-bending design is an incredibly flexible and customizable network of performance systems. At the concept’s debut, CEO Stephan Winkelmann hinted that we should expect more than a megawatt (over 1,341 horsepower) output through wheels via a full-electric all-wheel drive system. Lambo CTO Rouven Mohr later told me in an interview that the Lanzador will likely stick with two electric motors — rather than three or more — which the brand’s engineers feel is a sweet spot for power, packaging, weight and driving feel.

Beneath the cabin lives an advanced battery pack that promises high performance and «long range.» Lambo isn’t disclosing range targets or capacity at this point in development, but Mohr says to expect battery tech and chemistry shared with other members of the Volkswagen Group.
Presumably there are other green bits, other than the batteries?
Like most electric cars, Lamborghini promises the Lanzador will push the boundaries for the green agenda, right down to the textiles used. The sustainable materials, all made in Italy and therefore saving on the delivery miles, range from Merino wool (er, sourced from Australian sheep…) to eco-tanned leather that uses recycled water from the olive oil industry. Even underneath the stuff you can touch is covered, as Lamborghini has used 3D-printed recycled fibres in the foam for the seats.
Synthetic fibres are made from recycled plastic and regenerated carbon is currently under development to see if carbon fibre can be made more environmentally friendly. Every manufacturer is promising this, but to see someone like Lamborghini engage with it is encouraging.

Пространство за сидениями так же увеличили и теперь появилось место для размещения багажа размером с сумку для гольфа. Плюс ко всему, итальянцы выделили несколько мест для хранения вещей (в Aventador их не было). В салоне Revuelto есть три цифровых экрана. У водителя 12,3-дюймовый приборный блок и портретно-ориентированный 8,4-дюймовый сенсорный экран, подвешенный под вентиляционными отверстиями «Alien’s head» в центре приборной панели, которая служит основным пользовательским интерфейсом. Перед пассажиром также находится новый 9,1-дюймовый дисплей, который можно настроить для устрашения пассажира запредельно большими цифрами во время поездки.
Управление стеклоочистителями и указателями поворота было перенесено на лицевую часть рулевого колеса. Aventador был одним из последних суперкаров, в котором использовались подрулевые переключатели. От этого эргономичного решения отказались и теперь в Revuelto есть подрулевой переключатель от Audi для активного круиз-контроля. While it is a 2+2 GT, it offers more versatility by allowing the rear space to carry sports equipment or luggage. There is a hidden trunk in the front and a spacious rear compartment with adjustable seats, and it has slim headlights inspired by the Countach LPI 800-4 and hexagonal-shaped taillights. Inside the car, the driver sits low, almost like in a jet, and it uses design elements like the large Y-shaped center console.
By the end of 2024, Lamborghini wants to electrify every model in its lineup. It is ready to spend more than 1.9 billion euros over a four-year period switching to hybrid technology. The idea behind the fourth model, the Gran Turismo Lanzador, is to create a refined ‘laboratory on wheels’ for environmentally friendly materials in addition to a technical demonstrator. The concept car aims to lead Lamborghini’s segment starting in 2028 all the while inherently upholding the brand’s DNA and carrying Lamborghini’s legacy of more than 60 years into a new era.
